During your walk or bike ride across the “Chiemgau” county you will hear from time to time a friendly greeting (“Griaß di”). Numerous footpaths and cycle routes take you through the impressive countryside, either uphill to the mountain tops or across the natural reserves on the shores of the various lakes in the “Chiemgau” county. No matter whether you prefer climbing high peaks or walking across the plain, after the tour you can indulge yourself with a hearty snack in one of the mountain huts or in a traditional inn. We will gladly tell you our favourite walking and hiking routes, which all start and end on the doorstep of the Landhaus Tanner. And if you fancy trying your hand at something new, you can book a themed Segway tour or rent our E-Bikes.

Lake “Waginger See” is surrounded by gently rolling hills of farmland and pastures. Given its water temperature of up to 27 °C (80 °F) in summer, Lake “Waginger See” is the warmest lake in Bavaria.

Having a surface area of more than 80 square kilometres, Lake “Chiemsee” is the largest body of water in Bavaria. The lake is a paradise for sailing enthusiasts, who can navigate there almost undisturbed. There is hardly anyone to come across, except a few kitesurfers and windsurfers, the steamers, some small electric boats and pedalos as well as from time to time a fisher boat. On the shore and on the islands, you will find many attractive landing stages with fine restaurants and cosy beer gardens. If you fancy sailing competitions, you can take part in numerous national and international sailing regattas held on Lake “Chiemsee”.

We have a special tip for dog owners. In the village of Musbach, there is the “Salzachinsel” dog beach, where you can relax and splash around with your four-legged friend.

There are twelve golf courses in the immediate vicinity and a little further afield. Taking a 45-minute drive across a marvellous landscape, you can reach numerous golf facili-ties, either in “Chiemgau” county, in the mountains of the “Berchtesgadener Land” in the south-eastern corner of Bavaria or beyond the border in “Salzkammergut”, the Austrian “Lake District”. Our region is a paradise for golfers offering varied facilities set in a marvellous scenery.

As our resident guest, you will receive a 20 % green fee reduction at the golf courses of the “Chieming” and “Anthal” Golf Clubs.

The 4th Golfland Chiemsee Golf Week 2022 will also take place from 11.09. – 17.09. 2022 – registrations and more information can also be found here.

Bavaria is actually a multi-faceted destination in winter: breathe the pure mountain air and enjoy the sunshine. The blue sky stretches from snow-covered hills to the peaks of the near Bavarian and Austrian Alps with their fabulous ski resorts.

The sparkling snow crunches under the feet. It is a unique place, where you can spend indulgent holidays combined with fun outdoor activities and amazing nature experienc-es. Enjoy skiing in the morning, spa delights or a pleasant winter walk in the afternoon and in the evening a fine dining experience in our “Alpen-Kulinarik” restaurant.

Take in the very special festive atmosphere visiting one of the quaint Christmas mar-kets in the local area. We recommend you in particular the Christmas fair in Salzburg, the “Hellbrunn Advent Magic” as well as the Christmas market at the Hohensalzburg Castle, in the town of Altötting or on the “Fraueninsel” Islet on Lake “Chiemsee”.
